We’ve been honing our skills and creativity with our in-house education every third thursday of the month. With February being a festive month, we incorporated Mardi Gras into our styling class.
Each stylist blindly chose a bag of party adornments in which they incorporated into their models’ finished look. Here are photos from this shoot that wrapped up the class, we ended up with great results!

Ray and Tina (dk hair’s network educators) are now taking over dk hair’s blog. We will be updating the blog twice a month keeping everyone updated on our upcoming events and calendar. Look for photos from our monthly TTI class (third thursday inspiration) as well as new features, spotlights and updates. Our upcoming “Found Objects” class will be sure to inspire our stylists by incorporating styling products and props for a very creative, finished look. Look out for those photos as well as a, 5 years in the making, new product from Bumble and Bumble…

dk hair owners Kenneth Bradshaw and David Valencia and a team of stylists went aboard the Inspiration Yacht, treating KyXy 96.5 and Sophie 103.7 listeners to their collection of hair styles as well as complementary hair and makeup tips. Models from dk hair strolled through the listener party which was hosted by both radio stations and in support of the upcoming release of the Sex and the City movie.

Summer collection launched, includes Runway Hair
Backstage Pass event gives clients a peek at techniques used by fashion show stylists
dk hair launched a new collection of summer cuts and colors on 26 March during the salon’s BackStage Pass and Silent Auction 
event. Stylists and colorist showcased their artistry to nearly fifty guests who were invited to get close and personal as color, cuts and flair came together in a new collection of styles for the summer. In addition, guests were able to discuss best-practices on hair management, damage prevention and skin maintenance with stylists and co-owners David Valencia and Kenneth Bradshaw. The event closed with a runway walk of models sporting select “runway hair” styles from the salon’s summer collection.
The event was also held to raise awareness for genetic diseases which have affected two San Diego families. Local partners, clients and businesses donated products and services to support the Lund 
family of Bonita, Calf. whose 9-month old son is suffering from a rare disease called Aicardi-Goutieres Syndrome. Proceeds were donated in memory of dk hair’s client whose son recently died of another genetic disease called Krabbes. Contributions were generously received from Bumble and bumble, TRUE Cosmetics, MacCase, La Martina, Lexine Schroeder, 10 News (KGTV-TV) San Diego, Carola Eastwood, Sarah Angler, True Religion Jeans, Lovi Love Designs, Fred’s Mexican Café, Island’s Burgers and Goldie Rocks.
